Mendon, Mass. – A new season of adventure begins as Southwick’s Zoo prepares to welcome guests for the 2026 season. From exciting educational presentations to enhanced habitats and returning guest favorites, the zoo is looking forward to another year of inspiring curiosity, conservation, and family memories.
During the offseason, teams across the zoo have been hard at work completing improvements throughout the park to enhance both the guest experience and the care provided to the animals that call Southwick’s Zoo home. Among this year’s most notable enhancements are newly renovated primate habitats (still nearing completion), designed to enable species-typical behaviors in naturalistic environments while offering guests new opportunities to observe and learn about these remarkable species.
Guests can also enjoy the return of Avian Adventures: Above and Beyond, the zoo’s reimagined free-flight bird show, first introduced during the 2025 season. The presentation showcases the natural abilities of birds from around the world as they soar overhead while guests learn about their behaviors, adaptations, and the importance of avian conservation. The show joins a full lineup of daily educational programming offered throughout the zoo.
