Visitor Guidelines

We are committed to ensuring that our visitors have an enjoyable experience and we are taking measures to promote social distancing, but we cannot guarantee you won’t be exposed to COVID-19. We rely on you to protect yourself too.

If you are sick or believe you have been recently exposed to the virus, please do not visit until well. We recommend that visitors who are over 65 years old or with underlying health issues wait to visit next season, OR visit during a Zoofari Drive Thru.

If you see other visitors not following rules and guidelines, please alert a zoo employee BEFORE you leave the zoo. The sooner we know about an issue, the sooner we can fix it. The Guest Services window, located at the entrance, is open at all times during our hours of operation.

Limit Your Visit to 3 Hours

To help avoid crowding, please limit your zoo visit to about 3 hours.

Re-Entry is not allowed at this time, so please plan your visit accordingly.

Cover Your Mouth & Nose With a Face Mask

All visitors over the age of 2 must wear a face mask covering their nose AND mouth during their entire visit, excluding those unable to wear a face covering for medical reasons. Please check in with zoo staff at admissions if you are unable to wear a mask for medical reasons.

We recommend that guests who are unable to wear a face mask wait until later phases to visit.

Practice Social Distancing

Please practice social distancing and maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from other visitor groups and zoo staff. We will provide guests with a suggested one-way route to tour the zoo to help maintain social distancing more easily.

Wash Your Hands Often & Avoid Touching Your Face

Please wash or sanitize your hands frequently. When washing your hands, remember to wash using soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds. Our restrooms will be cleaned and sanitized between each use. When you use hand sanitizer, rub your hands together until they feel dry.

Try to avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth if you have unwashed hands.

Avoid Touching Surfaces

We are trying our best to keep surfaces in the zoo as sanitized as possible, but please try to avoid touching surfaces to reduce potential exposure and the spread of COVID-19. Remember to wash or sanitize your hands after touching anything other guests may have touched.

No Outside Food

Guests cannot bring outside food into the zoo. Exceptions may be made for smaller items such as small snacks, a water bottle, formula and any childcare necessities, or food required for medical reasons. Coolers and full lunches cannot be brought into the zoo, however.

Please be careful to remain 6 feet away from other guests while you are eating and drinking. Please stay off of main pathways when eating and drinking.

No Coolers, Large Bags, or Backpacks

Guests cannot bring coolers, backpacks, large bags, into the zoo. Smaller bags may be brought into the zoo, however.

Guests may bring a small backpack, but standard sized backpacks are not permitted.

We reserve the right to inspect any bags brought into the zoo.

Additional Tips for Visiting During the 2020 Season

  • If it is a weekend or the weather is nice, we will have more visitors. We are operating at a reduced daily capacity, and we have not exceeded capacity, however we will be busier on weekends and days with ideal weather. Our least popular days are generally Monday-Thursday (however, please remember that we may still be busy during the week depending on the weather). If you or a family member has an underlying health condition, we recommend visiting us as a Drive Thru for a reduced contact experience. Click here to learn more about Zoofari Drive Thru Tours.
  • Some visitor groups are large families. Please remember that what looks like a group of people not social distancing may actually be a larger family.
  • When eating or drinking, please be careful to stay 6 feet away from other visitor groups. Please also be respectful of other guests and refrain from eating or drinking while on a main pathways.
  • If you see other visitors not following rules and guidelines or have any questions/concerns, please alert a zoo employee BEFORE you leave the zoo. The sooner we know about an issue, the sooner we can fix it. The Guest Services window, located at the entrance, is open at all times during our hours of operation. Employees can also be found at our food stands, gift shops, Skyfari, Train, Parakeet Lansing, Petting Zoo, and Zip Line. Guests can also report to the hostess at Galliford’s.
  • Be respectful of other guests. Rules and guidelines are in place for the benefit of you, your family, other visitors, our staff, and the animals.

Rain Policy

If you have been visiting the zoo less than 3 hours and must leave the zoo due to rain, please present your receipt to a cashier at admissions or the Guest Services window as you exit, and we will stamp it for a return visit this season.

Please be aware that the free return visit is only available as Admission Only (general) and not Zoo-It-All (combo).

Reminder: While our zoo is open rain or shine, rides, most attractions, shows, and smaller food and retail locations are weather permitting, so they may be closed or may close early on rainy days.
