Southwick’s Zoo is home to several family-friendly rides and attractions. From bird’s eye views of the park to hand-feeding deer and goats, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
All rides are weather permitting and are subject to non-availability without notice.
Rides close at 4 PM during the week.
Ride & Attraction Safety
Height, age, size, & safety requirements must be followed for the safety of our visitors and staff.
Please obey all posted signs for rides and attractions. All rides are at the discretion of the ride operator, and operators reserve the right to refuse rides for the purpose of health and safety of the riders, animals, and staff. Ride height requirements can be found on this page, and they are posted at each ride.

Skyfari Sky Ride

See the zoo from above on our Skyfari Sky Ride! This peaceful, yet exciting ride will get you a bird’s eye view of the African Plains, Deer Forest, chimpanzees, alligator, and more!

Skyfari Safety Rules
- Minimum Height: 42” tall.
- Children under the age of 13 years old must be both 42” tall and accompanied by an adult to ride.
- The Skyfari Sky Ride chair can seat:
- Two adults
- Two adults with one child (must be 42” tall to ride).
- One adult and two children
- Guests who are pregnant, have heart disorders, vertigo or dizziness, seizure disorders, or any physical condition that may be aggravated by this ride are advised to ride at their own risk.
- You cannot ride the Skyfari Sky Ride if you are impaired by drugs or alcohol.
- The Skyfari Sky Ride operator reserved the right to assign seating based on safety guidelines.
Woodland Express Train

Ride the Woodland Express train for a relaxing, 15 minutes-long journey through our scenic North American exhibit and native wetlands. You can get a closer look at the elk, trumpeter swans, and possibly some local wildlife such as herons, turtles, ducks, and more!
Price: $7 per Rider
Children 2 years and under ride the train for free.

Train Safety Rules
- Children ages 12 and under must ride with an adult.
- Children must be seated in the center of the train car, only adults can sit on the ends.
- Do not stand or exit the train at any time during the ride. This is a round-trip ride and the train will not stop until it returns to the station.

Soaring Eagle Zipline

Fly above the zoo with our Soaring Eagle Zipline! Unlike traditional ziplines which feature a harness for a single person, the Soaring Eagle Zipline is seated and can hold up to two people at once.
Price: $12 per Rider
Zipline Safety Rules
- Minimum Height: 42 inches (Passengers between 42” and 47” tall, or under 12 years of age, must ride with an adult)
- Single Rider Weight Limit: 300 lbs
- Combined Weight Limit: 450 lbs
- Only one passenger may ride per seat.
- All riders must be weighed for safety reasons. Weights will not be displayed or announced. You must ride with the person you are weighed with. If you wish to swap riders, you must be re-weighed before riding.
- Food, beverages, cell phones, and any other loose items are not allowed on the ride and must be left in a designated area.
- This ride can reach a speed of 28 mph. This ride may be hazardous to those who: are pregnant, have heart conditions, have neck or serious back problems, are subject to motion sickness, have had recent surgery, have any impairment that would prevent seating or use of safety restraints, or have other health problems that may make them more vulnerable to injury.
Within the Wild Carousel

Take a spin on our newest attraction – the Within the Wild Carousel! Relive the magic of this nostalgic favorite, now housed in a climate-controlled building for year-round comfort.
Price: $5 per Rider
Children 2 years and under ride free with the purchase of an adult.

Carousel Safety Rules
- There is no height minimum for the Carousel.
- DO NOT stand or try to jump off the carousel at any time during the ride. Please signal to the operator if there is any emergency during the ride.
Rainforest Adventure Maze

Venture into the Rainforest Adventure Maze to challenge yourself and learn about conservation! This attraction provides a fun and exciting educational experience. You can either explore the maze at your own pace or challenge your friends and see who can find each checkpoint and complete it the fastest!
Price: $5 per Person
Second Run: $4 per Person
Additional Runs after Second: $3
Maze Safety Rules
Be Safe: Don’t climb on the animal statues in the maze.
Be Respectful: Don’t push other players or rough house.
Play Fair: Don’t cheat by crawling under the panels.

Animal Rides & Attractions
Camel Rides
Not Included in Combo Wristband
Camel rides take you on the back of a dromedary camel guided by one of our camel keepers.
Price: $12 for single rider; $8 per rider multiples
Camel Ride Safety Rules
- Weight Capacity: Up to 200 lbs per rider.
- No children under 1 years old may ride.
- Children 3 and under are recommended to ride with an adult or older child.
- Depending on guest size, camel rides can seat 2-3 people.
- Ride operators can turn down anyone they feel is unsafe to ride.
- Camel Rides are not recommended for people with hip, knee, back, neck issues, or those who cannot follow directions well.
The Deer Forest
Southwick’s Zoo is home to a 35-acre Deer Forest where guests can get close to and even feed the fallow deer. Follow the longer winding walkway through a beautiful native ecosystem complete with a pond inhabited by painted turtles, frogs, and tadpoles.
Price: Included with general zoo admission
Deer Feed: Deer feed is available for purchase from the feeding stations at the Deer Forest for 50 cents (2 quarters). There are change machines located on-site.
Deer Forest Safety Rules & Guidelines
- Stay on the path and designated areas at all times.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Children under 5 years must be held while feeding deer.
- Treat animals with respect. Remember, you are a visitor in their home. Do not scream at, yell at, chase, or crowd the deer.
- Do not litter.
- Plastic bags are NOT allowed in the Deer Forest as they pose a choking hazard to the animals.
- Do not touch their antlers.
- Do not feed the deer outside food or food purchased from the petting zoo. They are only to be fed deer food purchased in the Deer Forest.
- Walk slowly. For your safety and the safety of the animals, DO NOT run.
- Groups and Field Trips: 1 chaperone is required for every 5 children to enter the Deer Forest.
The Petting Zoo
Visit our petting zoo to pet and feed our herd of pygmy goats! These small playful goats are favorites here and this attraction is not to be missed.
Price: Included with general zoo admission.
Goat Feed: Goat feed is available for purchase from the feeding stations at the Petting Zoo for 50 cents (2 quarters).
Petting Zoo Safety Rules & Guidelines
Children MUST be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times in the petting zoo.
Do not pick up or attempt to pick up any of the goats.
Goats may be overly playful, so always be careful when interacting with them.
Do not feed the goats outside food or food purchased from the Deer Forest. They are only to be fed goat food purchased at the Petting Zoo.
Do not try to feed the goats any non-food objects.
If a goat does not want to be pet or fed, please do not chase, harass, or attempt to force them.
Groups and Field Trips: 1 chaperone is required for every 5 children to enter the Petting Zoo.
