Giraffe Encounters
Feed One of Earth’s Tallest Animals
Step onto our elevated encounter platform with a bundle of fresh browse in your hands and get ready to feed Earth’s tallest animal at Southwick’s Zoo.
Every Encounter Includes:
- A keeper presentation: Meet the team that cares for our giraffes and learn how these animals live, eat, and thrive.
- Your own portion of browse: You get your own bundle of fresh leafy branches to feed to the giraffes
Encounters run three times a day on weekends and select holidays (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day).
Information & Pricing
Feeding only. For the comfort and welfare of our giraffes, touching and petting are not permitted during the encounter.
Kids are welcome. Children 7 and under must be accompanied by an adult into the encounter area to help hold their browse. One ticket covers a child 7 or under and their adult helper, sharing one portion. Want a portion each? Buy two tickets.
The giraffe habitat is open to all zoo visitors daily throughout the season for viewing.

Tickets cannot be reserved in advance.
Encounter tickets are sold at the gate only, first come, first served. No advance purchase, no gift certificates. Spots per feeding are limited and often sell out early.
Weather permitting. If the forecast looks questionable, call 1-800-258-9182 ext. 211 before you head out to confirm encounters are running.
