Interesting Facts

• Parakeet is the common name for a diverse group of small parrots. Some parakeet subspecies are the budgerigar, the Alexandrine parakeet, the horned parakeet, and the hanging parakeet.
• Parakeets are very social and often form large flocks that may number in the thousands.
• These birds are extremely popular as pets. Parakeets bred in captivity tend to be larger than those in the wild.
