Interesting Facts
- Military macaws are found in Central America and South America. They are sometimes confused with the Great Green Macaw which has a similar appearance. Great green macaws can be distinguished by their larger size.
- Macaws are zygodactyls, meaning that they have four toes. Two toes point forwards and two point backwards. This type of foot helps the macaw to climb and grasp objects.
- Their name comes from their mostly green plumage which is resembles the color of military uniforms. Their green coloration provides camouflage in their forest habitat.
