Typical time on a station can be 2 hours. Can you handle standing or walking for up to 2 hours at a time? Docents sometimes carry artifacts or related material – weighing up to 20lbs. Can you carry 20lbs for a short period of time? Docents are “the answer people” at the zoo. They are stopped any time by zoo guests for directions, questions about the animals, etc. Will you be able to use information you learn in class to quickly and accurately answer questions from people of all ages and backgrounds? AvailabilityWeekend availability is required. Docents are expected to volunteer a minimum of 8 hours each month during the zoo season, April - October.
