Did you know?
- This species is very similar in appearance to scarlet macaws. However, green winged macaws are larger and have a band of green feathers on their wings. They also have tiny red feathers near their eyes.
- Macaws have very strong beaks that can generate 200psi (pounds per square inch) which they use to crack open the shells of nuts and seeds.
- Macaws are very messy eaters. They often drop seeds onto the forest floor while eating and some seeds also pass through their digestive systems. These seeds may grow into new plants and help generate new forest growth.
