Did you know?

  • De Brazza’s monkeys, also called swamp monkeys, live in social groups of up to 10 members. Each group has a dominant male leader. They are known for freezing in place when they are startled or danger is near.
  • De Brazza’s monkeys usually live in close proximity to water. Though they are primarily arboreal and spend the majority of their time in the trees, they are capable of swimming
  • Males and females have pouches in their cheeks to help them store food while foraging. They eat leaves, fruit, nuts, insects, and occasionally small animals such as lizards.
