Despite their name, guinea pigs are not in the pig family, and they don't come from Guinea in Africa.
Guinea pigs are very vocal animals, using a wide variety of sounds such as chirps, squeaks, and burbles to express excitement or alert others to potential danger.
Guinea Pigs are known to exhibit a behavior known as “popcorning” when they become excited. Mostly displayed by young Guinea Pigs, they are able to jump into the air whilst running and quickly turn around in order to jump again in excitement.
