We will open for the 2017 season on Saturday, April 8th! If you plan on visiting during our first week (April 8-14), please be aware it will be a soft opening and we recommend reading the information below to prepare for your visit.
Opening Week Offer
Some of our animals will not be out during our opening week and kiddie rides won’t be available until April 14 and pony rides, camel rides, and Elkhorn mining will not be available until April 15th. For this reason, we are offering visitors a special offer if they purchase tickets at the zoo during our first week! Those who purchase full price admission at the zoo April 8th to April 14th will receive a free return visit (equal to the number of admissions they purchased) to be used by June 30, 2017. This offer is not available for tickets purchased online or for tickets purchased with the military discount or coupons. Offer is also not available for Family Value Passes or EARTH Memberships.
Some Animals Will Remain Indoors
Update: The majority of our animals have been moved to their outdoor habitats! The only species currently off exhibit (as of 4/10/17) are the sloths, alligator, green iguana, and tortoises.
Please be aware that some of our animals will not be out during our first week. For the health and safety of the animals, our keepers must wait until temperatures are consistently warm enough before they can move certain species. Animals that will most likely not be out during our first week or two include the sloths, tropical birds, the iguana, and certain primates.
Only Certain Rides Will be Open
The Skyfari and Train ride will be available starting on April 8th. However, kiddie rides will not open until April 14th, and pony and camel rides will not open until April 15th. Please keep in mind that all rides are weather dependent. Elkhorn Mining will also open April 15th.
Parking Changes for 2017
Since the restaurant has opened, zoo parking (including handicapped spaces) will now be located in the large lot across the street from our main entrance. The small parking lot in front of the admissions building and restaurant will be for those just dining at Galliford’s Restaurant & Tavern without entering the zoo. Guests are welcome to drop people off at the entrance before parking. Parking Attendants will be available to assist. Parking is always free at Southwick’s Zoo!
Spring/Summer Hours for Galliford’s Restaurant & Tavern
Starting Tuesday, April 11th Galliford’s, the new full service restaurant at the zoo, will be open 7 days a week! Galliford’s Restaurant & Tavern will be open Sunday-Thursday from 9:00am-9:00pm, and Friday & Saturday from 9:00am-10:00pm. Galliford’s will also soon begin adding some breakfast items to the menu. To ensure the best dining experience, we strongly recommend calling in advance to make reservations at 508-928-0928.
