Did you know?

  • Only male golden pheasants have bright showy plumage and a distinctive crest of golden feathers. Females are rather drab in appearance. Their dull coloration provides camouflage however.
  • These pheasants spend much of their time on the ground foraging for plant matter and insects. They rarely fly, but will roost in trees at night.
  • They are easily kept in captivity and can live with other birds. There are a number of color mutations among domestic golden pheasants including yellow, peach, salmon, mahogany, and silver.
