Did you know?

  • Colobus monkeys are “Old World Monkeys”. Old World monkeys are those from either Africa or Asia. Of the monkeys found in Africa, colobus are the most arboreal. This means that the majority of their time is spent in the trees rather than on the ground.
  • Their name comes from the Greek word ”kolobos” which means maimed or mutilated because. Unlike other monkeys, they have no thumbs.
  • They prefer unripe fruit since there is less competition. Many of the other animals in their habitat prefer to eat ripe fruit.
